Mayday Therapy
Counselling and psychotherapy in London and online
About me
Hi there. My name is Amy May. I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (BACP), working in private practice and for local charities offering mental health support. I offer counselling and psychotherapy, through online therapy and face-to-face walking therapy, in central London. I am able to accommodate both regular and flexible sessions. My sessions last 50 minutes and cost £60 (if you are contacting me through AFT, please let me know as discounted fee rates may apply).

I offer counselling and integrative psychotherapy. Integrative psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that combines elements and techniques from different schools of psychological theory and practice. It is characterised by its flexibility and comprehensiveness, allowing therapists to tailor their approach to meet the unique needs of each individual client. It also recognises the importance of cultural, social, and personal factors in a person's life, and how these factors might impact mental health and the therapeutic relationship.

As well as being a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, I am currently completing a Masters in Psychotherapy (UKCP). In line with my practice framework I am in regular supervision with a UKCP/BACP registered supervisor.

Special areas of interest are: abuse, trauma and complex PTSD, women’s health, chronic and long term illness, depression, stress and anxiety, relationships, LGBTQIA+ issues, parenting and caring, power, privilege and oppression.

Services
I offer one-to-one online therapy which is conducted over Zoom.

I also offer walking therapy in central London. Walking psychotherapy, also known as walk-and-talk therapy, is a form of psychotherapy where the therapist and client conduct their session while walking outdoors, typically in a peaceful, natural setting like a park. This approach combines the benefits of traditional psychotherapy with the physical and psychological benefits of walking and being in nature. The act of walking, combined with the outdoor environment, can stimulate thinking and creativity, potentially leading to deeper insights and more productive conversations. This therapy mode can be more accessible for people who feel confined or restricted by indoor settings. While confidentiality is still a priority, therapists and clients need to be comfortable with the possibility of encountering others during a walk. This is typically managed by avoiding discussing sensitive information when near others or choosing less frequented paths.
I currently offer sessions in Hyde Park.

For some people, committing to regular weekly time slots can be a challenge, particularly for those who work non-traditional hours and have family and personal commitments. For this reason I offer a limited number of flexible sessions, which can be booked through the website.
